What is Mentoplasty?
Mentoplasty, also known as chin surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that involves reshaping the chin to improve its size and/or position relative to the rest of the face.
What does the procedure involve?
The procedure involves making incisions inside the mouth or under the chin, moving or reshaping the chin bone, and/or placing an implant to enhance the size and projection of the chin. The incisions are then closed with sutures.
Is the procedure painful?
The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia, so the patient will not feel any pain during the procedure. However, there may be some discomfort during the recovery period.
What is the recovery time for Mentoplasty?
The recovery time can vary depending on the extent of the procedure, but most patients can return to work or school within a week.
Can I eat normally after the surgery?
Patients are usually advised to stick to a soft or liquid diet for several days after the surgery in order to avoid putting pressure on the incisions.
